Sonia Bautista

Sonia has been working for libraries for the past 24 years. She began as a library page and has been promoted throughout the years. She is currently the Senior Librarian at the City of Commerce Public Library. Her main duties consist of planning all the adult programs, purchasing all audiovisual material, posting on all the library’s social media platforms, conduct reference service, purchase all adult books in English and Spanish, oversee all periodical collections including electronic magazines, contact between library vendors, extensive outreach in the community, and supervise 4 librarians and one part time library assistant. She also worked as an instructional library and reference librarian at East LA College. In her spare time she volunteers as a Community Advisor for KCET-Link channel and with REFORMA: The National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking where she is the current Treasurer for the LA Chapter.
