Lupita Leyva
Lupita Leyva is currently the Senior Librarian for the Robert Louis Stevenson Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. She has also worked as a librarian at the Benjamin Franklin, Malabar, and Little Tokyo branches as well as Teen’Scape at the Central Library. In addition, she oversaw the implementation and daily operations of the Estrada Courts Community Library in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. Before finding her calling as a librarian, Ms. Leyva worked at KMEX34 (Univision) for 4 years and at El Puente Latino.com. She received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and also spent a semester at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City. She received her MLIS from UCLA’s GSEIS, where she was an ALA Spectrum Scholar. In addition to being a Los Angeles native, Ms. Leyva is also a native Spanish speaker and has been translating for LAPL since joining the system in 2004.
