Cynthia Bautista

Cynthia Bautista is the Youth & Family Services Senior Librarian at the Long Beach Public Library, and Adjunct Faculty at Santa Monica College where she teaches Research Methods. In her current position in Youth & Family Services, Cynthia oversees systemwide youth programming (such as Summer Reading and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten), conducts outreach and parent workshops, serves in the Long Beach Early Childhood Education Committee, offers bilingual programming such as Loteria @ the Library, and is the Spanish Language Materials selector. Cynthia has worked in public libraries since 1998 and graduated with her M.L.I.S. from San Jose State University in 2008. She worked in the County of Los Angeles Public Library as a Homework Helper, Literacy Aide, and Emergent Literacy Assistant before graduating and becoming a Children’s Librarian for the City of Commerce, and has been at her current position with LBPL since 2015. Cynthia strongly believes in the phrase “Libraries are for everyone.” She’s very passionate about serving the Long Beach community, and finding new ways to turn non-library users into avid library patrons.
